As the most important amateur golf organization of our country, MVK International Turkish Amateur Open Championship started in the Titanic Golf Club in Antalya, Belek. In the first round of championship, Russian golfer Egor Eroshenko and British golfer Oliver Claireaux shared the first rank in men with 70 (-2) hits each, and Russian golfer Nataliya Guseva and Dutch golfer Lizzy Peeters shared the first rank in women with 69 (-3) hits each.
Organized by the Turkish Golf Federation since 2001 on a regular basis, International Turkish Amateur Open Championship will be held between September 12 and 15 in Antalya for the 18th time this year.
As in the last three years, tournament is organized this year also in the name of deceased businessman Mustafa Vehbi Koç (MVK) who died in January 2016, and made great contributions to the development of golf in our country.
56 golfers from 11 countries were on the course in the tournament played at the Titanic Golf Course. A total of 30 Turkish athletes including eleven women are competing to rank in the championship.
In the end of the fist round of the championship, Russian golfer Egor Eroshenko and British golfer Oliver Claireaux shared the first rank in men with 70 hits each (-2), followed by Danish Kasper Nyland with 71 hits (-1), and Andy Borg from Malta, Egor Zotov from Russia, Lukas Kahl from Germany and Lucas Buerk from Croatia ranked third with 72 hits each (par).
Russian golfer Nataliya Guseva and Dutch golfer Lizzy Peeters ranked first in women with 69 hits each (-3), followed by İra Christina Wirth from Germany with 76 hits (+4), and our national athlete Ayşe Demir and Russian golfer Ekaterina Petrova shared the third rank with 77 hits each (+5).
MVK International Turkish Amateur Open Championship will end with the awards ceremony to be held after the final round which will be played on September 15, Sunday.
