In Belek, a tourism center in the Serik district of Antalya, an endangered Mediterranean monk seal came ashore on the beach of a hotel. After staying on the shore for a while, the seal returned to the sea after being fed fish by hotel staff.
One of the Mediterranean monk seals, which are usually rarely seen in rocky areas in the Antalya region, was spotted on the beach of a hotel in Belek. Thinking that the animal might be injured, hotel employees checked the seal. Following the inspection, it was determined that there were no injuries.
Thereupon, hotel staff fed the seal with fish provided by the hotel. The situation was reported to officials of the Belek Tourism Investors Association (BETUYAB). After wandering along the beach for some time, the Mediterranean monk seal entered the sea and disappeared from sight.
